AITA? So me 31(M) and wife 31(F) have been married for nearly 8 years and together since high school.
I work full time and she works 4 days a week and runs her own business. Finances are tight and is always a tense subject. Today we had an argument over some cash I have. I get paid overtime in Cash and when I have cash I like to save it and not spend it (there isnt alot of cash it hovers between $500 & $1000. I do use the cash to treat ourselves and get takeaway or groceries occasionally and even used some of it for Christmas presents. I asked her if she could do me a favour and get $100 cash out of my drawer and go buy something I wanted from the shops.
She then wanted to take extra money for herself to keep. I said no that’s my overtime money. This turned into an argument and she was saying what’s mine is yours and any money that’s earned is shared for the family. She has an issue with me saying the cash is my cash. Technically it is my cash I made a choice to work overtime. She now wants to open a seperate bank account and put money aside for herself from her pay. She already uses money from her pay to send to her business account and I don’t argue about that. I told her if she works overtime then she can take the extra out in cash and spend it on what she likes. All I want is some cash to keep aside for a rainy day and not get spent on everyday items. AITA??
