AITA for telling my co worker to stop telling me about her personal life…
So about 6/7 months ago my co worker (who used to be my best friend) had a falling out. We still work together and keep it professional. We work on separate sides so it’s easier to keep it professional.
When we first had falling out we didn’t speak at all. Spoke very little when it came to work but that was it. She became friends with someone she always talked crap about, so she basically left me alone. After that person left recently, I noticed she came to my side more often. Would say hi, ask how I was and whatnot. Very vague and short. Didn’t think much of it, kept it professional and cordial. About a week or 2 ago she started talking to me more. Mentioning her personal life and what was going on outside of work. I didn’t really say much, just nodded and responded when prompted to.
Today, she came up to me and started telling me about her personal problems and everything. I finally told her “listen, I would like to keep it cordial and professional. I don’t want to hear about your personal life anymore, and I don’t really care to. I have my own stuff going on so I’d really appreciate it if we just kept our conversations about work.” She didn’t like my response clearly. She rolled her eyes at me, said I was rude for not wanting to listen, and stormed off. AITA?
