Okay so about a month ago I was about to go to sleep and I heard something banging at my side door. It was about 1am I get up and go check it out. It ended up being a cat. I sat outside with him for about 30 mins before I took him inside. Upon taking him inside I noticed he had 2 big open wounds on his chest and one bump on his chest as well. I posted the cat on the lost animals page (local to my city). Then scheduled him a vet appointment to be checked out and scanned for a microchip. Took him to the vet to get checked out his wounds were of unknown origin so he had to be reported to animal control for possible rabies. the bump ended up being cyst that needed to be drained, as well as they found an upper respiratory infection, and found through blood work that the cat has diabetes. The vet got the microchip number for me and I contacted the microchip company to get in touch with the owners. For 4 weeks the microchip company tried getting in contact with these people daily emails and calls they didn’t respond.
These people made one single post on the lost pet page I posted him on 2 weeks after he went missing and just put “been missing for two weeks if you have him let him out and he will find his way home” with a picture of him. I checked their profile and it said this person has been apart of the lost pet group since 2022. So they not only waited 2 week to post the cat with the most heartless caption but also didn’t respond to a single call or email from the microchip company. The cat has absolutely no interest in going back outside he doesn’t try to run out or anything and he likes cuddling with my other cat on my bed frequently. I spent $600 at the vet on this cat and I also don’t want to give him back because these people are clearly neglectful. They don’t know I have the cat and all his paper work and micro chip number have been transfered to my name since it’s been over 4 weeks (which is the waiting period to transfer microchip ownership over).
