AITAH for wanting to break up w my bf because he’s broke?
i (17f) have been with my bf (18m) for going on 5 months now, i don’t mean to come off as snobby or expect expensive things or constant gifts but my bf has always struggled with money..
i never really understood where his money goes since he had a job and doesn’t pay bills but i do know he communicated a lot that he struggled to even touch 500. he quit his job and has been unemployed for almost three months now and i am currently working two jobs.
recently, i have been paying for basically everything and at first i didn’t mind because i was willing to compromise 50/50 but the meals start to add up and he always upgrades to the most he can get and is always asking for food. i got him a job with me at my second work place but he is still unmotivated to go or like just doesn’t have the drive to work, he complains about his financial state so much yet doesn’t seem that motivated to change it and now im starting to feel shitty because everyone else around me gives me shit and makes jokes about my bf not even being able to buy me a bag of 5$ chips.
a lot of my checks have just gone to buying food and i’m genuinely just trying to see if things will get better and maybe he’ll change whenever he is able to get the money but even with his proposal to ask me to be his gf he just bought rose petals and lights on his bed and complained that he couldn’t do what he wanted because of financial issues. i’m really torn and i just need some opinions ?
