AITAH for wanting to gift my same sex co-worker a heart ring?
UPDATE: For those who guessed he was triggered by his past were correct. Not going to share his story, but I knew the reaction was disproportionate to the situation and Im glad he communicated it to me. Ring went back and my happy marriage continues.
Myself and 2 other ladies are very close at work. We went out to dinner to celebrate our birthdays and while out we did a little shopping. My friend found a heart shaped ring she loved but it wasn’t her size. I took a photo and found one on the internet very close to the one she liked. The description was “promise ring, heart shaped gold plated.” It was $17 and I thought it would be a wonderful gift.
My husband thinks its weird based on the description and was visibly upset to the point he was questioning my sensuality. I told him he is my priority and if it made him uncomfortable I would return the ring. We normally never fight and he refused to discuss it further saying he isnt going to deal with it now. Either way, Im returning the ring. I love my husband and he is my priority but I really need to know if IATAH for thinking this was an innocent gift to a co-worker I appreciate. This reaction is so left field for him I cant help but have my mind race with what this could really be about. Or if I am truly that clueless.
