My bf (35m) works and I (39f) do not. So, I do all of the things at home like cooking, cleaning, etc. It works for us. I was planning on making a steak dinner tonight. 2 rib eyes, potatoes and green beans. He got home around 5:30 pm and did a couple of things. He then tells me that he’s going to his parents house to pick up mail which is about 30 minutes away. Okay, cool cool. It’s now 8 pm and no text or anything saying when he’ll be home and honestly, I don’t feel like cooking a big dinner this late.

No, I never specifically told him I was making dinner tonight but I DO EVERY NIGHT and it’s always ready by 6:30 pm or so. Yes, I could text him and ask when he’ll be back but what’s the point when it’s this late? I just feel like it’s common courtesy to let the person who cooks for you know when you’ll be home for dinner if it’s outside of the norm.
But I also feel like I’m being petty because I’m annoyed. So, what do you guys think?
Also, I should add that I don’t think he’s doing anything shady by not being home yet. That’s never been a concern of mine. I think he’s just sometimes unintentionally inconsiderate of other people. Yeah, I’m home all day but I still think my time should be respected.
