AITAH for selling my husband’s ex wife’s house “out from under her”?
My husband recently passed away and the house that he and his ex wife shared was in his name only. They divorced 3 years before we met and she had always tried to break us up and do anything she could to make things difficult.

The divorce decree states that she had 1 year after the divorce to get the house in her name. She refused to do so and we never could get a judge to enforce the decree. Now, 10 years later, the house is still in his name and I had our attorney reach out to her to offer a deal. She received a large settlement for 380 grand. Since there is a balance of 84,786 dollars on the home she’s in, I offered her to just pay the home off and my attorney will draft the paperwork to sign the home over to her.

She has refused. The issue is that she is known to miss payments on things and she’s had two vehicles repossessed so I can’t afford to keep the house payments up if she misses it and the house I live in is in mine and my late husband’s name so I don’t want any debt collectors coming after me. I think I have been more than fair with her. I don’t want the house and I am literally “selling” the house to her for what is owed and not what it’s actually worth.

It’s a 450k home. We even offered to pay any additional fees associated so all she has to pay is JUST what is owed. She tells her son and her family that I am throwing her out of the house and doing it for spite. What else can I do here?
