AITAH for telling my sister to get a nanny because I’m not helping her with the babies?
I(17f) am being blamed because of the way I handle this situation with my half sister, and honestly I don’t think I did anything wrong. Even though I’m questioning myself, I wouldn’t agree it’s probably how I said it. My grandma said I should’ve handled it differently and did what rose said.
My half sister rose (24F) is older than me, we’re not close and I’m okay with that. Growing up my dad would try to get us together but she didn’t like me, her mother didn’t because I looked like my mom. I can’t remember a time rose has been nice to me or my family so why should I put that effort in? Again we don’t talk so I don’t have her number, she was able to call me because my dad gave her my number.
I should’ve hung up but I just let her talk it out, basically she just had twins from a c section and her baby daddy hasn’t been around and won’t answer her calls, her mom is too busy trying to be young again by clubbing every night so she doesn’t help with the babies and the toddler, her friends come up with excuses. I didn’t know what she wanted me to do about that, our dad literally does nothing so he could help her but she said he’s been bailing on her too. Only thing I told her is to get a nanny to help her or ask one of her cousins, this set her off.
She said why can’t I come and help her on weekends and weekdays because no one will, mind you I am a high school student so that wouldn’t work. I barely know her and haven’t seen her since I was very young, and she lives like 2 hours away so that’s why I told her to get a nanny to be closer to her. Then she got really mad to the point she started crying, she said I’m her sister so I should be there for her, she’s never claimed me as a sister but when she wants help then I’m not invisible anymore? I let it go on too long for her to be yelling at me, and I had important things to do so I told her stop calling me and just take the advice I gave her.
