I’m a 40 yr old woman with a soon to be 18 yr old son. I’ve been a single mother since he was 5 (by choice).
All my major successes and goals I’ve accomplished on my own. I own 2 homes and have several pieces of land. I’ve climbed the corporate ladder and I’m extremely successful in my career. I also have a business that is extremely successful. I started dating a guy (I’ve known him for 8 years) and we made it official July of 2024. He’s about to be 36 has no kids and was still living with his parents. He moved in with me and I told him until he gets a better paying job he could give me just $1k a month. I have about $5k a month in bills. Thats been the agreement.
Fast forward to the week before Christmas he got fired from his job. Instead of looking for a job he decides to start his business (which I’ve always know he wanted to do. In fact I gifted him the LLC for his birthday last year while he still had his job.) so he decides to start this business with no clients and just winging it hoping to scrape money in and just gives me money when he can.
Who the eff in their right mind? So I finally lost my shit today and said if you had your own apartment or house, your landlord/leasing company/mortgage lender they don’t give a shit if you have no clients. Same with all your utilities and other bills. Granted he does grind hard and DOES get me the money he owes every 2 weeks but wtf happens when business is slow? He’s a great man and does spoil me when he does have some money. But he’s too effing comfortable.
AITA for wanting more???? He’s not a child! $1k a month wouldn’t even put a dent in rent where we live. I forgot to mention that he does cover groceries pretty much 75% of the time and all the bulk shopping for toiletries etc like Costco runs he covers ALWAYS and they’re usually $300 every other month. For reference I don’t have any credit card debt or Wild debt on anything. Oh AND he doesn’t have a car. So he access to all this for $1k a month plus groceries. Am I nuts?
