AITA for kicking my adult brother out of my family Christmas at my boyfriend’s and mine apartment today?
He kept complaining about the gifts he got from us and kept picking a fight with all of us about not spending as much on his gifts.
It got so bad it triggered my ADHD disregulation and I ended up crying in our bedroom while my boyfriend tried to deal with him.
See my brother has this horrible habit when buying gifts, he buys what he wants to give us instead of what we actually ask for and does it at expensive stores like Macy’s.
Then he makes this huge fuss when we don’t spend the same amount on him.
Like I’m talking expensive clothes that no one asked for when we literally had $20 or $30 items on our Christmas lists.
Quite literally on mine it was like DVDs, plush blind boxes, nail polish sets, a hand held sewing machine, and stuff like that.
He said that’s all boring gifts to buy.
We were like that’s what I wanted. I didn’t ask him to buy a bunch of expensive clothes nor should I be suspected to match the cost.
And we did buy him stuff we thought he wanted, like he wanted a new sling backpack and I found a nice one on Amazon but he said it wasn’t good enough, he wanted a Loungefly one which are like 70 to 90 bucks.
I looked all over and I couldn’t find him one so I thought he would have liked this.
When he found out it was Amazon he basically said, don’t buy his gifts at Amazon cause it was all crap. Aka he’s too good for Amazon or something.
He also immediately judged this nice retro Mustang t-shirt that I found for him to wear at car shows when showing his Mustang, saying he didn’t like the faded look. Like he didn’t get the retro look or something. Also turned his nose up at a car detailing gift set and microfiber rags from my boyfriend.
I feel guilty about kicking him out though epecially before we served Christmas dinner but he was upsetting us all so much that he was ruining Christmas for everyone.
My boyfriend has decided he’s banned permanently from our apartment at this point.
